Southern Highlands Woodies Group comprises of a diverse membership of men and women, both amateurs and professionals. Our club produces an array of items ranging from simple creations to exquisite works of art. Equipped and operational, the workshop is open two mornings a week (Wednesday & Friday) for members to utilize the facilities and work on their individual projects.
Within our workshop, members have access to an extensive array of equipment, including various lathes, a bandsaw, drill-press, grinders, access to specialised turning tools, and an extensive collection of hand tools. We provide instruction and support for beginners, offering the necessary techniques, while also offering advanced training programs.
Our workshop is situated at the Moss Vale Showground.
Our Monthly meetings serve as a platform for engaging talks or demonstrations, showcasing and discussing members’ work, and enjoying a friendly sausage sizzle. The monthly meetings start at midday and conclude around 3.00pm while the Wednesday and Friday meetings start at 9.00am and conclude at 12.30pm.
WHO WE ARE
Established approximately 25 years ago in the Southern Highlands Community. The Woodies Group emerged as a community organisation affiliated with The Sydney Woodturners Guild. Comprising a diverse membership of men and women, both amateurs and professionals. Our club produces an array of items ranging from simple creations to exquisite works of art.

Safety is paramount, with protective equipment and procedures firmly in place.
Previously situated in Burradoo, our workshop has found a new home at the Moss Vale Showground. Equipped and operational, the workshop is open two mornings a week for members to utilize the facilities and work on their individual projects.
Monthly meetings serve as a platform for engaging talks or demonstrations, showcasing and discussing members’ work, and enjoying a friendly sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome to join!
Additionally, woodturning demonstrations and opportunities for members to sell their work are integral to our activities, such as participation in the Moss Vale Show, the Wingecarribee Arts Trail, and local markets.
Our Woodies group enthusiastically invites new members to partake in the timeless and rewarding craft of Woodturning.
